ABC's 'Day of Giving' for Sandy Raises $17M

ABC's raised $17 million Monday with its "Day of Giving," in which all of its shows from "Good Morning America" through "Jimmy Kimmel Live" urged viewers to support Hurricane Sandy relief.

It followed an NBC telethon Friday that raised another $23 million for the Red Cross' efforts. In addition, CBS donated $1 million, as did News Corp., which owns Fox. Disney-ABC gave $2 million.

"Our 'Day of Giving' was an enormous success, raising more than $16.8 million dollars to help those impacted by Hurricane Sandy," said Anne Sweeney of co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group. " From 'Good Morning America,' 'The View' and our Owned TV Stations to 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' ABC Family, and Radio Disney, the Disney/ABC TV Group came together in an unprecedented fashion to address the storm's devastation, and I could not be more proud."

"Day of Giving" messages were incorporated into "Good Morning America," the eight ABC Owned Television Stations, "The View," "The Chew," "Live with Kelly and Michael," "Katie," "General Hospital," "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire," "World News with Diane Sawyer," "Dancing with the Stars," "Nightline," Jimmy Kimmel Live," ABC Family, SOAPnet, Radio Disney, the Disney Stores, Disney.com and ESPN.
