Shots of the sun, taken from the backyard

Step aside, NASA. Move over, Hubble Space Telescope. A series of detailed photos of the sun making its rounds on the Web comes from an amateur photographer from his backyard in Buffalo, New York.

Friedman uses a telescope he calls "Little Big Man." The stargazer sets up the telescope for high-magnification shooting. A camera replaces the eyepiece of the telescope. Bing Quock, assistant director of the Morrison Planetarium at the California Academy of Sciences, is a fan.
