Sunday's Baltimore Ravens-Chicago Bears game at Soldier Field was temporarily suspended due to severe weather.

The field was cleared and fans were asked to leave their seats and seek shelter in the stadium with 4:51 left in the first quarter.

A stadium announcement at 2 p.m. Central time stated the game would restart at 2:25 p.m.

Baltimore led 10-0 when the game was delayed.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch, severe thunderstorm and flash-flood warnings for downtown Chicago, effective until 4 p.m. local time.

It also announced that Chicago and other areas of the Midwest could be affected by dangerous weather on Sunday. Seven states -- Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin -- are under a tornado watch.

Weather forecasters expect a possibility of tornadoes, large hail and strong wind gusts, some of which could reach about 80 mph.
