Have a few hundred thousand dollars to burn and a car that needs a good polishing? The Ultimate Shine Car Wash has a deal for you

Forget about buckets of soapy water and shammies at your local gas station – for the superior car wash, you need a special Brazilian Carnauba wax, we-come-to-you service and month-long buffing sessions to get that flawless shine. And at $160,000, it’s worth every penny! At least that’s what Scotland-based Ultimate Shine owner Paul Wilkins claims.

While eyebrows will definitely be raised at that price tag, Wilkins says he performs this service around three times a year for wealthy car enthusiasts who are willing to pay for unparalleled service and attention to detail.

“Well, for that price I will fly out to any location in the world. I’m usually dealing with serious car collectors who have temperature-controlled showrooms,” Wilkins told “We’re not talking about cars which are parked up on the side of the road so I travel to wherever they are kept,” he said.

So what goes in to a $160,000 touch-up? Wilkins begins by decontaminating the body and wheels of the car before he machine polishing the vehicle inch by painstaking inch – an act he’ll perform hundreds of times to ensure that every bump, dent or mark is buffed to perfection, even if it takes a month. After that, he’ll wash the car down with a special alcoholic cleaning agent to clear up any stains.

Next comes the secret ingredient (and for $160,000 dollars, there had better be a secret ingredient): Carnauba wax, made from the leaves of some of the tallest trees in Brazil. This is where the exorbitant price tag comes from –the wax alone costs $100,000.

Wilkins says he can create custom blends of the wax that caters to his clients’ preferences.

“We can make up different blends according to what the client wants. We offer a wax for every season, which will protect the car in any element. We can even produce scented waxes.”

Wilkins, who calls himself a perfectionist, says he will spend months getting the car into perfect condition, and only then will he handover the keys.

If magic Brazilian waxes and months-long polishes all sound like a little much, Ultimate Shine also provides an ultimate wash and dry service for the everyman – all for a tidy $65.
